About Mrs. Simpson….
An Arkansas native, Mrs. Simpson joined the staff at David Youree Elementary School in August of 2013 as a 3rd grade teacher. She became the RTI2 Instructional coach in July of 2015. Prior to moving to Tennessee, Mrs. Simpson, had seven years of experience in Blytheville Public Schools as a second grade teacher, Arkansas Reading 1st Literacy Coach, and finally as an Afterschool Program Coordinator. Mrs. Simpson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (Pk-4) and a Masters of Education in Theory and Practice from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. This fall, she will be working on her EDS in Leadership and Supervision at Lipscomb University.
As an RTI2 Instructional Coach, Mrs. Simpson, is responsible for tracking and monitoring the data of the students at DYE (K-5), administering benchmark screeners and monitoring assessments, and working with teachers to develop plans for struggling learners and then monitoring that those plans are working. One of Mrs. Simpson’s favorite parts of her job is working with new teachers. She provides monthly afterschool trainings and also observes in their classrooms and models in their classrooms as needed.
One of Mrs. Simpson’s favorite parts of working at David Youree is her coworkers. She truly loves getting up and coming to work every day! “Everyone at DYE works so well together and truly behaves as a “family”. They are my “extended” family and I miss them when I am not at work.”
When Mrs. Simpson is not at work she enjoys spending time traveling with her husband, Scott and her two kids Seth and Camille. She also enjoys cuddling up with a good book or a movie and her two goldendoodles, Otis and Mollie.
